PERFORMANCE DIVISIONS
JAZZ- consists of primarily jazz technique, utilizing
uptempo music.
BALLET- consists of ballet or pointe technique. Must include classical
steps and movements.
TAP- consists of tap technique. Tap shoes only.
LYRICAL - consists of jazz and ballet technique - emphasizing strength,
control, and interpretation.
MUSICAL THEATRE- consists of Broadway/theatre dance styles.
SPECIALTY- consists of all other categories, ethnic, novelty, etc.
HIP-HOP - consists of street, funk, MTV video style jazz technique.
CONTEMPORARY - consists of modern and ballet technique, reaching
beyond the standard jazz vocabulary.
SONG & DANCE STAGE - consists of live vocal performance of
a Broadway selection or similar character piece, integrated with dance
movement. No lip-synching. No vocals of any kind on the recording. Three
wireless microphones (handheld or headset) can be made available for lead vocalist(s).
Floor microphones will amplify any choral singing.
SONG & DANCE POP - consists of live vocal performance of a
pop selection integrated with dance movement. No lip-synching. No vocals
of any kind on the recording. Three wireless microphones (handheld or headset) can
be made available for lead vocalist(s). Floor microphones will amplify
any group singing.
ADAGIO - may consist of any style of dance with an emphasis on
partnering skills.
ACRO/GYMNASTICS - consists primarily of gymnastic movement and
passes while incorporating some dance.
PARENTS - may consist of any performance genre.
VOCAL POP- emphasis on singing ability with a ‘pop’ style. No lead vocals permitted on accompaniment tracks. Wireless handheld or headset microphone provided.
VOCAL STAGE - emphasis on singing ability with a ‘Broadway’ style. No lead vocals permitted on accompaniment tracks. Wireless handheld or headset microphone provided.
Ballet Division is strictly for classical or pointe work.
Contemporary ballet pieces should be entered in the Contemporary or Specialty
Division.
Any entry with more than 3 acro/gymnastic tricks must be
entered as Acro/Gymnastics.
Judges reserve the right to change the competing dancers
category if the number has been entered improperly.

ENTRY FEES & LIMITS
Regional entry fees must be postmarked 30 days prior to the competition date. National entry fees must be postmarked by May 28TH, 2010. Late entries will be charged a $5 fee per entry.
All entries must be finalized two weeks prior to competition
date. No changes will be accepted after this date.
All competition fees are to be submitted on ONE studio BUSINESS
check.
All Master Class fees are to be submitted on a separate
business check.
All fees are due with entry forms. No entry fees are refundable.
Make all checks payable to: ONSTAGE NY.
No Canadian checks accepted - bank money orders on US funds
only.
Regional Competitions will be limited to time available.
Entries accepted on a first come, first served basis. Timely postmarks
do not guarantee acceptance of entries.
Schools are welcome to participate in more than one ONSTAGE
NY Regional Competition.
Overtime entries will be subject to a 5 point deduction. Time limitations will be strictly enforced.
