Age Divisions
All ages are as of January 1, 2023 for the entire 2023 season, including Nationals.

To reach the average age of an entry, add all the ages together and divide by the number of dancers in the entry. After averaging age, DROP THE DECIMAL to produce the competition age for the entry. For example: An entry whose average age is 10.7 will compete as age 10. The names and ages of all performers must be submitted or the entry will not be accepted. All competing performers must be prepared to present proof of age should a question arise.
The average age of each entry may not drop more than one overall age division below the age of the oldest performer in the entry, regardless of the actual average age. In such a case, the entry may compete with the lowest age of the new overall age division.
Example: If an entry contains performers ranging in age from 9-18, even if the average age is 12.3, the entry may not drop more than one overall age division (it will drop from Senior to Teen, not Junior). It will compete in the lowest age of the new overall age division (in this case, Teen 13).

One minute of extra time can be purchased for groups or larger. Solos & Duo/Trios are not eligible for extra time.
Performance Divisions
JAZZ- consists of primarily jazz technique, utilizing uptempo music.
BALLET- consists of ballet or pointe technique. Must include classical steps and movements.
TAP- consists of tap technique. Tap shoes only.
LYRICAL – consists of jazz and ballet technique - emphasizing strength, control, and interpretation.
MUSICAL THEATRE- consists of Broadway/theatre dance styles.
SPECIALTY- consists of ethnic, novelty, etc.
OPEN- consists of all other categories.
HIP-HOP – consists of street, funk, MTV video style jazz technique.
CONTEMPORARY – consists of modern and ballet technique, reaching beyond the standard jazz vocabulary.
SONG & DANCE STAGE – consists of live vocal performance of a Broadway selection or similar character piece, integrated with dance movement. No lip-synching. No lead vocals permitted on the recording. Three wireless microphones (handheld or headset) can be made available for lead vocalist(s). Floor microphones will amplify any choral singing.
SONG & DANCE POP – consists of live vocal performance of a pop selection integrated with dance movement. No lip-synching. No lead vocals permitted on the recording. Three wireless microphones (handheld or headset) can be made available for lead vocalist(s). Floor microphones will amplify any group singing.
ACRO/GYMNASTICS – consists primarily of gymnastic movement and passes while incorporating some dance.
ADAGIO – may consist of any style of dance with an emphasis on partnering skills.
PARENTS – may consist of any performance genre.
VOCAL POP - emphasis on singing ability with a ‘pop’ style. No lead vocals permitted on accompaniment tracks. Wireless handheld or headset microphone provided.
VOCAL STAGE - emphasis on singing ability with a ‘Broadway’ style. No lead vocals permitted on accompaniment tracks. Wireless handheld or headset microphone provided.
Judges reserve the right to change the competing performers category if the number has been entered improperly.
No entry fees are refundable.
